History
The place where the Grand Prairie was established in 1863 as 'Deckman-cho' by Alexander McCree Deckman. Deckman, from Birdville, Texas, learned that his owned cattle and carts could be exchanged for the land in Dallas County. This year, Deckman bought 239.5 acres (0.96 km²) of land on the east coast of the Trinity River and 100 acres (0.40 km²) of land on the west coast for a broken truck, a pair of cattle pulling it and a Southern Army currency of $200. He tried to build a house on the land, but it was so difficult that he returned to the house of Birdville and then joined the Civil War. Later in 1867, Deckman registered a town block consisting of 50 acres (.20 km²) in Dallas County.
After returning to Birdville for two years after the war, Deckman sold his farm and moved to Houston in 1867, where he entered Brian because of the yellow fever epidemic. In 1876, Deckman sold half of his assets to a T&P railway, which made the railway run through the town. The railway named the station "Deckman," and Deckman urged Brian to change his residence to Deckman. His son Alexander lived in Deckman and ran a trading post and farm. The first church in the area was the Goodhope Cumberland Sabas School, built by Reverend Andrew Hater in 1870. The church was later named the Presbyterian Church of Westfork and is still active.
In 1877, the area's first post office was established, but its name was 'Deckman' instead of 'Dechman.' This was because the United States Post could not read what was written on the documents to open the post office. In the latter half of the year when the Postal Service adopted the 'Deckman', the T&P Railway adopted the station name Grand Prairie, which caused confusion. The name of the map, which was used from around 1850 to 1858, was based on the area between Dallas and Fort Worth, where it labeled "Texas Grand Prairie." To quell the confusion, the Postal Service changed its name to Grand Prairie.
The city of Grand Prairie was finally given a city system in 1909. During World War II and after that, the Grand Prairie had long been involved in the defense industry and the aircraft industry. The Boat Company's factory in present-day Jefferson Avenue is now a block in Dallas, but it was originally located in the Grand Prairie. During the war, it was a factory of North American Aviation and produced P-51C and P-51K Mustang improved fighter planes. The boat company took over the factory after the war. Later, it became the Ring Temco Boat Company and was returned to the Boat Company again. The plant produced F-8 Crusaders and A-7 Corsea II from 1950 to 1989. Ringtem Coboat's Missile and Space Division produced missiles such as scouts and MLRS. The division was sold to Lockheed Martin and continues operating in the Grand Prairie. There is also the headquarters of North American, which produces Aeroperacial helicopters. The company became the American Eurocopter, a division of the EADS (European Aerospace Defense Company) North America.

education
elementary secondary school
public school
Most of the students from Grand Prairie kindergarten through 12th grade go to the Grand Prairie Independent School District, which has jurisdiction over the Grand Prairie region in Dallas County. The Mansfield Independent School District has jurisdiction over the cities that belong to Taranto County, and there are six elementary schools in the city. Other areas of the city are in the independent school districts of Arlington, Cedar Hill, Irving and Midrussia.
In Texas, the school district does not always correspond to the area of the city or county. This is because all aspects of the Central Government, including the boundaries of educational school districts, are separated from the city and county governments.
Grand Prairie Independent School District
The high schools in the district are Grand Prairie, South Grand Prairie, Cross Winds and Dubiski. There are seven middle schools.
Arlington Independent School
The number of Grand Prairie students attending school in this school district is the second largest. There are six elementary schools in the city. The residents of this school district are west of the border between Dallas and Taranto, and in the southwest of Grand Prairie City, they are north of the intersection of the Camp Wise Road and the Lakeridge Road. The number of students in Grand Prairie City is larger than the number of students in Arlington City in the case of James Bowie High School in the school district.
There are three high schools in your school district: James Bowie, Sam Houston and Ramer, each with elementary and junior high schools.
Mansfield Independent School District
The number of Grand Prairie students attending school in this school district is third largest. South of the intersection of Camp Wise Dam Road and Lakeridge Road, from the west of Joe Pool Lake Road to the border between Taranto County and Ellis County. There are no schools in Grand Prairie City yet, but two elementary schools and one junior high school are scheduled to be built. This school district is growing at a high rate in Taranto County, and this is largely due to the growth of Grand Prairie City.
There are two high schools in each district: Mansfield Timberview and Mansfield, each with elementary and junior high schools. Timberview High School is located along the state road 360, not 100 yards (90 meters) from the city border of Grand Prairie City.
